About Us

The Association of Consulting Engineers Australia (ACEA) is an industry body representing the business interests of firms providing engineering, technology and management consultancy services.

Our membership is corporate rather than individual, so we provide support to your entire business on issues such as risk management, contractual issues, professional indemnity insurance, occupational health and safety, procurement practices, workplace/industrial relations, client relations, marketing, education and business development.

There are over 260 firms, from large multidisciplinary corporations to small niche practices, across a range of engineering fields represented by ACEA with a total of some 45,000 employees.

As an association we are predominantly focused on improving the commercial environment for consulting engineering firms and we achieve this in a number of ways…

  • We are actively involved in lobbying government and industry bodies to improve the business environment in which our member firms operate. We achieve this by coordinating a unified industry approach to both national and state government policymakers and client bodies on business development, procurement, liability, standards and workplace relation issues.
  • We take a dynamic role in promoting members businesses, through our popular engineer referral services and also our close alliances with other business organisations, and we are recognised internationally as one of the largest members of FIDIC, the international peak body for consulting engineers.
  • ACEA assists firms with the day to day running of their business, through an extensive range of support activities and services. These include numerous publications, practice notes, business tips and advice lines, in addition to a comprehensive program of technical and business seminars.

Founded in 1952, ACEA is a national organisation with a presence in all states and territories.
