Sandgate Rail Grade Separation

Newcastle, NSW

Opened on November 14, the Sandgate Rail Grade Separation has removed a longstanding obstruction to efficiency in the Hunter Valley’s coal chain. The $80M project was completed on schedule and eliminates the necessity of coal trains destined for Kooragang Coal Handling Facility to stand idle at Sandgate while waiting for passenger and main line freight services to clear the rail track.
