The communities of the Torres Strait Islands are widely dispersed, small in size and highly dependent on an effective marine and air transport network. This plan is intended to develop safe, efficient and sustainable access to freight and passenger transport services to meet the needs of the Torres Strait Islands communities. This is the first time a comprehensive transport infrastructure plan had been prepared for this region.
