Project Category Awards
Project category Awards are presented to firms for their role in projects in a variety of categories.
[1] Building:
Projects which principally involve the design/development of commercial building structures for low, medium, high rise and community buildings. Examples include but are not limited to multi-storey buildings, schools, hospitals and sporting stadiums.
[2] Transport & Civil Infrastructure:
Projects which principally involve transport and civil engineering infrastructure development activities which may include but are not limited to earthworks, tunnelling, pavement, piling, foundation design, roads, railways, tunnels, bridges, wharves and ports.
[3] Industrial:
Projects which involve the design of industrial buildings or facilities for the manufacture, storage or handling of materials. Examples include but are not limited to food and beverage processing, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing or process plants, factories, warehouses, workshops, cranes and bulk materials handling systems.
[4] Water:
Projects which offer solutions in water resource management, which may include but are not limited to water resources, water storage, treatment plants, water cycle management, flood management, irrigation and drainage, sewerage treatment, stormwater and wastewater.
[5] Energy and Resources:
Projects which involve the design or management of energy and resources, which may include but are not limited to power generation and distribution (coal, gas, fire, wind, wave), oil and gas, mining, mineral processing and metals, ore transport and export facilities.
[6] Environmental:
Projects which are directed towards achieving improved environmental outcomes, which may include but are not limited to pollution remediation, ecological and lifestyle impacts, sustainability and greenhouse gas reductions.
[7] ICT Projects:
Projects which are either standalone IT or Communications projects such as software, hardware or communications systems development, or projects in which IT is a key part of project delivery. Examples of the latter include but are not limited to computer-based modelling and/or database development, logistics or structural analysis, IT infrastructure and networks, telecommunications earth stations, exchanges, land and mobile networks.
[8] Community and Urban Development:
Projects involving a significant proportion of community consultation and/or projects initiated by community groups to which the consultant provided substantial advice and guidance. Examples may include but are not limited to projects for local government infrastructure, community consultation and planning and indigenous community development.
[9] Building Services:
Projects which principally involve the design/development of mechanical and/or electrical services within building structures for low, medium, high rise and community buildings. Examples include but are not limited to multi-storey buildings, schools, hospitals and sporting stadiums.
[10] Specialist Services:
Projects for which the consulting engineering firm provided specialist engineering services which are not included in the main project categories. Examples include but are not limited to geotechnical, acoustics, air conditioning, traffic and fire engineering.
[11] Project Management:
Projects for which the consulting engineering firm was engaged by the client to maintain responsibility for project delivery including planning, scheduling, time, cost and quality outcomes. Examples include but are not limited to EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Management projects).
[12] International/Export Projects:
Services related to international projects or projects that incorporate a significant offshore component which are located outside Australian jurisdictions
