The project involves the construction of a new university city for Kuwait University. Constructed on a 520 hectare site, features of the new co-educational campus include several faculties, dormitories, sports facilities, auditoriums and car parks for several thousand vehicles. SMEC, in association with local consultant KEO International, was engaged to provide project management services associated with the design and construction of the new university city. Gateway House Gateway House is a multi level business premises incorporating basement and on site car parking, designed to achieve 4.5* ABGR rating, built on a challenging Greenfield site, accommodating a national call centre plus smaller tenancies. The project was won by tender to design, construct and lease in conjunction with the client and extended over 3 years. The project was delivered ahead of time and under budget due to intensive project management and a high level of co-operation by all involved, and has delivered a benchmark call centre to Centrelink with exceptional results to the client. Clipsal 500 Infrastructure Upgrade - Clipsal 500 is SA’s biggest annual event and the world's largest touring car race, attracting 291,000 spectators in 2008. To upgrade the site and facilities for 2009, the State Government in March 2008 allocated $20 million. KBR project managed the upgrade, which included procuring, fabricating and installing a new demountable pit building (the world’s largest temporary building and shade structure) and multiple shade structures; resurfacing the track; upgrading official and media facilities; and upgrading all infrastructure below and above ground.
